A 45-year-old man from Topeka, Kansas, is accused of killing a 2-year-old girl.
On Jan. 5, police officers were called to help an unresponsive girl. The 2-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by medical professionals, according to Topeka police.
The victim was identified as Aurora M. Exon. Her death was ruled as a homicide in March, police say.
Jeffrey J. Exon was arrested on March 30 on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated endangering of a child and failure to report the death of a child.
The police didn’t comment on the relationship between the two individuals, but said that the incident was “domestic in nature.”
Jeffrey Exon has been booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections and is being held on $1 million bond.
The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Topeka police at (785) 368-9400.
