U.S. Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) attended President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address but drew attention less for her reaction inside the chamber and more for a selfie she later shared on social media.

Trump delivered a nearly two-hour address on February 24, focusing primarily on the economy, domestic policy, and other political issues. “Inflation is plummeting,” he said. “In 12 months, my administration has driven core inflation to the lowest level in more than five years.”

During the speech, Trump criticized Democrats for remaining seated after he asked lawmakers to “stand up and show your support” if they agreed that the federal government’s first duty is “to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”

Cammack’s Selfie Moment With Trump

Clad in a bright red dress, Cammack took a selfie with Trump, before he left the chamber following his address.

She later shared the picture on her X account, writing, “AMERICA! WE ARE SO BACK BABY!”

The image featuring a beaming Cammack beside the president quickly went viral, though not exactly for the reasons she may have expected. Critics said the image appeared heavily edited and that Trump did not resemble himself.

People commented Trump did not quite look like himself in the picture.

Former Democratic congressional nominee Christopher Hale weighed in, writing, “You did him dirty, Congresswoman.” He added, “Still can’t get over the fact that Kat Facetuned herself 100% and left Trump out to fry.”

Several others piled on. “That doesn’t even look like Trump lol. Why would you post this,” one user wrote. Another commented, “Man, the filters needed on this photo are unreal.” A third joked, “The phone is literally smoking after all the filters that had to be applied.”

Cammack Steals the Spotlight With Her Seating

During the address, Kat Cammack drew attention for sitting on the left side of the House chamber alongside Democrats rather than with Republicans.

“Tonight I’m sitting among my Democrat colleagues as they choose to sit in protest,” she posted ahead of the event. “I will make a point to applaud and cheer for America’s success. America has never been stronger!”

During the address, Cammack was repeatedly seen standing, cheering, and applauding the president, even as many Democrats remained seated and silent.

Cammack later criticized Democrats for their reaction to the speech, writing, “While @POTUS called for protecting American families from illegal immigrant crime, liberals sat there with dirty looks on their faces. No applause for the victims. No sympathy for the families. DISGRACE!”

Some social media users praised Cammack’s actions. “Seriously loved watching you stand and clap last night. Saw you get your selfie with President Trump,” one commenter wrote.
