Labor secretary takes up partiality to defend complaints about her husband

Lori Chavez-DeRemer is facing scrutiny after reports suggest she is engaging in discrimination. The Labor secretary, according to a report by The Post, is allegedly retaliating against women who testified and recorded her husband for sexual misconduct.

Now, at least three of these employees have filed equal employment complaints against Chavez-DeRemer. Of these, two are from women who claimed that the secretary’s husband, Shawn DeRemer, abused them inside the Labor Department’s headquarters.

Allegations Against Chavez-DeRemer

Staffers at the Labor Department have accused Chavez-DeRemer of discrimination within the workplace. She has created a hostile environment after news of her husband’s alleged misconduct came to light.

Employees allegedly feared punishment for speaking out against the wrongs they endured. One of the complaints revealed that Chavez DeRemer reportedly ordered her staff members to carry out personal work, including cleaning her closet and picking up dry cleaning.

The new complaints folllow broad allegations against the Labor Secretary and her department’s superior aides. An investigations have been launched on claims of fostering a hostile environment for employees and staff.

DeRemer has also been accused of engaging in misconduct within her scope of official duties. Claims of her inappropriate relations with employees have also surfaced occasionally. The Inspector General of the Department of Labor has been inquiring into these claims. However, neither Chavez-DeRemer nor her husband has responded to the latest developments in the investigation. In fact, the department has not issued a statement yet.

The two primary complaints against Shawn DeRemer were made by women in the department. They claimed that he subjected them to unwanted and inappropriate se**** touching in 2025, when they were working at the Department of Labor.

According to a source close to the case, at least one of the alleged incidents between Shawn and the female employee was recorded on office security footage. The video apparently showed DeRemer giving a prolonged hug to the particular employee. It is believed that the clipping corroborated some portions of the victim’s account, making it viable evidence in the investigation.

The DC Police has visited the secretary’s office to investigate the said footage. Interestingly, Shawn was banned from entering the Labor Department’s office since the allegations were recorded.

Lori Chavez-DeRemer retaliates against staff who complained about her husband

Meanwhile, Shawn’s lawyer has vehemently denied allegations of their client involving in any behavior deemed se**** inappropriate. Moreover, Lori Chavez-Remer’s lawyer has also dismissed the claims of misconduct carried out by her within the workplace. Previously, the White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers also addressed the multiple allegations against the Labor Secretary. She termed them as baseless before refuting it all.

In February, the DC U.S. Attorney’s Office had rejected charging Shawn DeRemer in relation to the allegations of se**** misconduct. Even The Federal Protective Service followed suit and stepped down from proceeding with the case in the wake of the complaints.
