Long Island Park Shooting: Teen Killed, Two Injured During Barbecue Gathering

A shooting incident at Eisenhower Park on Long Island left a 15-year-old boy dead and two others injured.
A 15-year-old boy was killed and two others were injured in a suspected gang-related shooting at Eisenhower Park on Long Island, authorities said. The shooting occurred on April 15 in New York.
Two people were arrested in connection with the shooting, which occurred around 8:20 p.m. on April 15 near Hempstead Turnpike and Merrick Avenue, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
The event was organized by members of the Bloods gang, according to reports.
What Happened
A barbecue had been organized at the park, with invitations allegedly sent to gang members via social media.
Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said an argument broke out between two individuals during the gathering, leading to gunfire. He added that the event was organized by members of the Bloods gang, according to Fox 5 News.
The individuals involved are believed to be from the Bronx and Suffolk County.

A teenage boy and two others were targeted in the shooting, CBS News reported. All three were taken to a nearby hospital, where the teenager was pronounced dead. The victim's identity has not been released.
“We will not tolerate gang activity in this county. We’re not going to tolerate what happened tonight. It will be addressed,” Ryder said. “Going forward, there will be no more parties in the park.”
The incident was reported around 8:30pm when calls came in for shots fired by park goers.
The Aftermath
The two injured victims are receiving treatment and are believed to be in stable condition. Their names and ages have not been released.
Authorities confirmed that two armed individuals were taken into custody, though details about their identities and charges were not immediately available.
A retired NYPD officer wrote on X that police were searching for additional suspects and managing crowds in the area, adding that a helicopter was deployed overhead.
The investigation into the fatal shooting remains ongoing.
In an unrelated incident, a 51-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly trying to kidnap an 11-year-old boy in New York on April 13, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
The alleged kidnapping attempt happened around 2:25 p.m., police say. The suspect, Nelson Acevedo of Uniondale, approached the boy and tried to lure him into a nearby home with money, NewsNation reported.
The suspect reportedly grabbed the victim’s wrist, but the victim managed to let go and escape from the perpetrator.
Officials said that Acevedo was taken into custody on April 15. He was charged with attempted kidnapping in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
He was expected to be arraigned on April 16.
