As per the witness statement, the duo were driving in central Phoenix before stopping at a red light at 7th and Missouri Avenue, south of Bethany Home Road, at around 2:15 p.m. on September 27. “They were basically trying to get in each other’s lane, driving really close to each other,” Malasia Williams, a witness, said in her statement.
Stephen Guardino stopped at the red light and got out of his SUV to confront Arriage, who was still inside her car.
There was an argument, according to the witness, and then Guardino spit on her, witnesses said. Then Arriage reportedly shot him in the neck through her rolled-down window.
"She said, I shot him, I am sorry. He ran up to my car. I was scared. He got in my face, I shot him,” said Isaiah Clinen, another witness.
“It was a shot in the neck, and it’s terrible. Blood all over the place. It was terrifying. I have never seen something like that in my entire life,” she added.
“I ran over, I wan gonna help anyway I can,” she said.
“She sat in her car, as he was just dying right there, and didn’t care,” Brody Madrid, another witness said.
Many people present in the area, along with the witnesses, ran to the victim to help him. They also performed CPR until the first responders arrived.
Initially, Arriage was interviewed by the police and released pending further investigation.
