A 55-year-old man from Marysville was sentenced in federal court in Seattle after being convicted of possessing child s--ual abuse material.

Authorities said the investigation began after a cybertip from Dropbox flagged illegal uploads linked to his account. That report led investigators to identify and arrest the suspect.

During a search of the man’s electronic devices, law enforcement said they found hundreds of files containing child s--ual abuse material. While imposing the sentence, the judge emphasized that such abuse causes lasting harm to children.

Robert Anthony Fiore was found in possession of nearly 50 videos and 242 images containing child s--ual abuse material. Authorities said he also had prior s---crime convictions outside of California.

He was arrested on Feb. 14, 2025, at his residence in Lakewood. Prosecutors charged him with multiple counts related to the s--ual exploitation of minors and additional counts involving distribution offenses.

The judge at the Seattle federal court admitted that a three-year prison sentence for Fiore would still not be sufficient to undo the crime he committed against children. Prosecutors noted that the circulation of material related to child se*** abuse tends to travel as a digital record forever. It ends up bringing lifelong trauma to the victimized child.

They added “Those who collect and share images and videos of children being r**** and tortured further a market that thrives on the se**** abuse of children. The collection of this material drives demand for new material and normalizes horrific acts of se**** exploitation. And it subjects victims of child abuse to perpetual re-victimization, knowing that the digital record of their worst moments forever travels the globe to satisfy the se**** appetite of child predators .”

The particular case was jointly investigated by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, along with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. An FBI special agent from the Seattle office was also present during the sentence and remarked how perpetrators like Fiore tend not to learn from their past mistakes.

W. Mike Herrington stated, “Despite already being registered as a s** offender, he continued to prey on young victims online. Each one of the dozens of videos and hundreds of images of child se**** abuse on Mr. Fiore’s devices contributes to the trauma and suffering of an innocent young victim. We hope this case sends a message to would-be predators that there are consequences for their actions. Law enforcement will discover their conduct and hold them accountable.”

There have been strict measures taken across the United States when it comes to tackling se* crimes against children. A nationwide initiative named Project Safe Childhood helps to combat the increased number of child se**** exploitation across the country.

Under this initiative, marshals from the federal, state and local resources are carefully assigned to locate better, apprehend and prosecute perpetrators who take part in the se**** exploitation of minors.
