Michigan couple charged for child abuse and torture.
A Michigan couple was arrested and charged with one count each of first-degree child abuse and torture. According to court records, the pair has been accused of brutally beating their 2-year-old son, which led him to suffer from a brain bleed, permanent disabilities, and multiple fractures.
The couple has been identified as Troy Michael Holt, 30, and Alyssa Nicole Holt, 27. Troy Michael Holt has also been charged with one count of third-degree child abuse.

According to a press release from the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office, the incident came to light in November 2025. At that time, detectives were called to a home in the 900 block of Martin Drive in Attica Township. The report was about a 2-month-old who was unresponsive.
The infant was transported to Lapeer Regional Hospital for prompt treatment. However, his situation was critical, so he had to be moved to Hurley Medical Center. Doctors determined that the boy was suffering from a subdural hemorrhage.
After the infant was transported to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, doctors determined that he was suffering from additional injuries, including "numerous broken ribs, a broken shoulder blade, a fractured forearm, and retinal hemorrhaging.”
Authorities said that the injuries stemmed from long-term abuse. According to Lapeer County Prosecutor John Miller, the child sustained permanent physical damage. “He is going to suffer from these injuries for the rest of his life,” he said.

Parents Initially Blamed The Injuries On Accidents

Miller noted that it was one of the most disturbing cases he has ever seen, adding the injuries were “very, very irregular for a baby that was only a couple months old.” Initially, when the parents were being interviewed, they blamed a series of accidents for the injuries.
However, medical experts concluded that the trauma was consistent with intentional abuse. An expert further told prosecutors that the injuries were not accidental, which prompted a probe into the parents.
The child was quickly moved from the home and is now being cared for by a foster family. Initially, the couple’s parental rights were restricted, and they were only allowed supervised visits. However, their rights were later completely terminated.
Alyssa Holt was arrested at a residence in the 200 block of Lily Court in Davison Township on May 1. Meanwhile, Troy Holt was arrested the same day at Fort Custer in Battle Creek. They are being held on $200,000 bonds. The pair’s next court date is set for May 8.
