Michigan Man Sentenced to Life After Killing Facebook Marketplace Seller in BMW vs. Mercedes Dispute

Omar Brogdon was convicted of second-degree murder, felony murder, felony firearm, and armed robbery.
The family of a Michigan man who was shot dead during a Facebook Marketplace sale has received justice nearly two years later. In July 2024, 38-year-old Orhan Hosic was killed by Omar Brogdon, who had arrived at his Fenton Township home to purchase Corvette car seats.
The two reportedly got into an argument over whether BMW or Mercedes makes the better car. The fight turned violent, and Hosic lost his life. Detroit native Brogdon, 31, was convicted of second-degree murder, felony murder, felony firearm, and armed robbery in April, 2026. On May 18, a judge sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Omar Brogdon Sentenced to Life for Murdering Orhan Hosic
Omar Brogdon has been sentenced to life for murdering Orhan Hosic.
Before his murder, Hosic had listed Corvette car seats for sale on Facebook Marketplace. On July 6, 2024, Brogdon arrived at his home to pick up the seats and spent three hours there. During the time, the two had a heated argument over BMW and Mercedes. After Brogdon left, Hosic was found dead at the bottom of the stairs in his garage with multiple gunshot wounds.
The Genesee County Sheriff's Office then investigated the case. Hosic’s neighbors told detectives that they had seen an orange Camaro outside his home on that day. As police searched for the vehicle, they found it was registered in Brogdon’s name.

Two weeks after the murder, police took Brogdon into custody and executed a search warrant at his residence. They found the orange Camaro and Hosic’s phone at his home. Additionally, they recovered a gun whose ballistics matched the bullets found at the crime scene.
Police also seized a pair of shoes that matched the shoeprints seen at the crime scene. In April, a jury deliberated for around three hours and found Brogdon guilty of the murder. Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton released a statement at the time saying, “Today, justice was served for Mr. Hosic.”
“Hopefully, this will allow his grieving family and friends to begin the long path toward closure in this sad and tragic incident,” Leyton added. Genesee County Circuit Court Judge Khary Hanible eventually sentenced Brogdon to life in prison without parole.
The Victim’s Family Slammed Brogdon
Brogdon said he regretted killing Hosic during the sentencing.
During the sentencing, Brogdon said he regretted killing Hosic. “It was an unfortunate event. I was scared. I was cornered,” he announced. On the other hand, Hosic’s stepmother slammed him in the court, saying, “You shot out the only eye he could see out of. This is something you will have to live with for the rest of your life.”
Meanwhile, Leyton explained how investigators tracked Brogdon down. “They got a witness who said he saw the orange Camaro in the driveway. They matched that car with Brogdon's vehicle, found at an address in Detroit. I remember at one point, somebody actually called the deceased's phone, and it got answered in metro Detroit at a motel,” he said in an interview with WNEM.
