Nancy Guthrie Case: Chilling Discovery 30 Minutes from Tucson Home May Solve Mystery

Savannah Guthrie previously stated that her mother was in her pajamas when she was taken from her home.
Amid the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie, investigators have found a new clue near her home. According to reports, a pajama top was discovered in a desert area about 30 minutes from Guthrie’s Catalina Foothills home.
Gonzo journalist Jonathan Lee Riches, who has remained in Tucson since Guthrie went missing, recently shared a video on X. The clip showed Pima County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) detectives arriving at the scene and collecting the pajama top as evidence in a bag.
Pajamas Discovered Near Nancy Guthrie’s Home
A pajama top has been discovered in a desert area about 30 minutes from Nancy Guthrie’s Catalina Foothills home.
What made the discovery even more significant was that the pajamas were found on seemingly disturbed land near Highway 79. As the video of the new clue began circulating online, people began to speculate whether the clothing belonged to Guthrie.
While investigators have not yet officially released a statement about the discovery, Savannah Guthrie previously said that her mother was in her pajamas when she was taken from her home on the night of February 1.
“How is it possible that we are having to make a video speaking to a kidnapper, who took an 84-year-old woman in the dead of night, in her pajamas, with no shoes, without her medicine?” she said in an interview with Hoda Kotb in March.
However, because there is no official information on what Guthrie was wearing the night of her abduction, experts have come up with theories on how her clothing could serve as a key clue in solving her disappearance.
What Experts Have Said About Nancy’s Clothing
The missing case investigation is being jointly conducted by the Pima County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“Did they have to wake her up and get her dressed, or did they take her out when she’s in night clothes?” researcher and psychiatric clinical nurse specialist Dr. Ann Burgess said in an interview with investigative reporter Brian Entin.
On the other hand, criminologist Dr. Casey Jordan said it is unclear whether Savannah actually knows what Guthrie was wearing at the time of her abduction or simply assumed she was in pajamas since she disappeared in the middle of the night.
“I’ve never known for certain if [she] knows that as a fact because investigators have some kind of evidence of that or if she just knows her mother’s routine,” Jordan said in a statement to NewsNation.
She continued, “Is this just Savannah filling in the blanks in her mind because she has a vision of her mother being removed from the house and, in this vision, she is shoeless, in pajamas? The truth is that we don’t have any of that from the investigators.”
The investigation into Guthrie’s disappearance is about to reach the four-month mark. While no suspects have been named or arrested so far, the discovery of the pajamas may help detectives make further progress in the case.
The investigation is being jointly conducted by the Pima County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Meanwhile, Guthrie’s family continues to hope for a miracle and has promised a $1 million reward for information leading to her whereabouts.
