Amid growing concerns over the kidnappers’ failure to provide proof of life for Nancy Guthrie, an expert has warned that they may have no intention of keeping her alive. The 84-year-old grandmother has been missing for over two months now.

Though the Guthrie family received ransom demands shortly after Nancy Guthrie's disappearance, the kidnappers did not come forward with proof of life. Meanwhile, the family also announced that Nancy Guthrie was in fragile health as she depended on critical medication and a pacemaker.

Nancy Guthrie's medical devices were left behind during her kidnapping.

Her medicine was left behind at home, and her pacemaker stopped sending signals to her phone during her alleged abduction. An expert has now stated that the abductors left the critical medical devices behind because they might not have intended of keeping Nancy Guthrie alive.

Deputy Coroner Commander Dr. Laura Pettler made the remark during a recent interview with TMZ. She said, “The offender or offenders did not choose to take Nancy's health-related items that she would have needed to have survived.”

She added, “And so, because there were no lifesaving measures that went into her abduction, my question would be, ‘Were you interested in preserving her life at all? Or have you taken Nancy Guthrie for some nefarious reason related to your own drives, your own psychopathy, your own motives within yourself, and you never had any interest in her survival?’”

Hence,Dr. Pettler believes kidnappers could have abducted Nancy Guthrie not for money, but for some other sinister reason. She explained that kidnappers seeking ransom usually ensure the victim stays alive, as that is their only chance of getting paid.

“People who are interested in money are interested in survival because they need the person alive, typically to create a scenario where they can ask for money to get the person back. And so I'm not sure that they were interested in her survival. So that's one of the things,” Dr. Pettler concluded.

Nancy’s Family was Ready to Pay the Kidnappers

Nancy Guthrie's daughter, Today host Savannah Guthrie, has repeatedly said that she is ready to talk to and pay the kidnappers in exchange for the safe return of her mother. Early in the investigation, various media houses received ransom notes from alleged kidnappers, seeking $6 million in bitcoin.

However, investigators reportedly stopped the family from paying the amount unless they received proof of life. Recent reports also suggested that one of the ransom notes was allegedly an apology letter, which stated that Nancy Guthrie had gone to be with God.

X account @Nerdy_Addict quoted sources, claiming that the kidnapper sent an apology message to the Guthrie family, stating they did not realize how fragile Nancy Guthrie's health was while abducting her. However, neither investigators nor the Guthrie family have commented on this claim.

Meanwhile, the investigation into Nancy Guthrie's disappearance continues even after more than two months. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are still gathering clues from Nancy Guthrie's neighbors to find out what happened to the elderly woman.
