The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie is being investigated not only by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), but also by independent journalists and YouTubers who are uncovering potential clues.
One of these YouTubers appears to have discovered evidence that could impact the case. For several days, a man who runs the YouTube channel Exploring With Jim has been livestreaming while searching for clues near Guthrie's home in Tucson, Arizona.
Jim Found Smuggler Shoes Near Nancy’s Home
Jim found smuggler shoes near Nancy Guthrie's home.
In one of his recent streams, Jim came across a pair of shoes that could potentially be used by criminals or kidnappers. While searching inside a dilapidated building filled with debris, Jim found a pair of carpet shoes, which are designed to avoid leaving footprints.
Picking up the shoes, Jim told his viewers, “You're going to be very interested in this. I swear I didn't plant this here. You guys see what that is? Those are smuggler shoes.”
Jim went on to explain that the shoes are made of carpet material and can be worn over regular shoes. He said, “What they do is they have a shoe made of carpet, right? And then that way they can walk through the desert and see it's camouflaged, and they can walk through the desert without leaving footprints. And they put their shoe, they put this over their shoe.”
Talking about how the shoes could be used, Jim said, “They can walk through the desert, and then you can't see where they walk because this carpet, you know, that doesn't leave a footprint or at least you can't track them.”
After showcasing the shoes, Jim left the area and moved on to his next destination. It is unclear whether he informed investigators about the discovery. The find has led to a theory that kidnappers may have worn such shoes on January 31 to avoid detection by law enforcement.
However, Guthrie's home is located not far from the U.S.-Mexico border. Therefore, the shoes may have been used by smugglers and not necessarily by those responsible for her disappearance.
Jim Earlier Found Another Clue
Jim stumbled upon a woman’s button-down shirt near Nancy Guthrie’s home during an earlier livestream.
This is not the first time that Jim has found a clue that has raised eyebrows. Just a few days ago, he stumbled upon a woman’s button-down shirt near Guthrie’s home during another livestream. Again, it was not confirmed whether the garment belonged to Guthrie.
Despite numerous leads and over 45 days of investigation, Guthrie remains missing. The 84-year-old mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie was last seen at her home on the night of January 31. Her family, who have promised a $1 million reward in exchange for her, continue to hope for a breakthrough in the case.
