‘Porch Guy’s’ Tattoo Could Help Crack Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Case, Says Former FBI Agent

Images of a masked individual captured on a Ring doorbell camera remain one of the key pieces of evidence.
Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing six weeks into the investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and local authorities, with one of the only pieces of evidence being images of a masked individual captured on a Ring doorbell camera.
Now, a former FBI agent says a tattoo visible on the suspected abductor could be a key clue in the case.
Black and Gray Tattoos a Common Style in Gangs, Expert Says
In the March 18 episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly interviewed former FBI special agent Jonathan Gilliam. The duo discussed an episode of Crime Stories With Nancy Grace, during which Grace spoke to tattoo artist Darren Rosa.
“Black and gray work is a very prevalent style among gangs, Mexican people who might be in these gangs, or cartels. This is even considered hallmarks of people who’ve moved up in the echelons of a gang,” Rosa said, according to Parade.
An expert believes the suspect's tattoo could provide important details about his past.
When Kelly questioned Gilliam about the same, he said, “It could be a lot of things. And that’s the problem, Megyn, with all this evidence — that is speculation. And Nancy Grace likes to pump things up quite a bit. So it, you know, it could be…”
The former FBI agent added, “I don’t know how he got that from that wrist. I don’t know how he came out with that part of it… There’s a lot of people who get especially in Arizona, it’s like a thing to have a sleeve.”
Tattoo Could Help Pima County Sheriff's Department with Investigation
Gilliam also suggested the tattoo could help investigators if it matches existing law enforcement records. “Even that little bit right there, if somebody has been arrested and they have tattoos, they’re going to have their tattoos recorded,” he said.
Gilliam added, “So there could be a database that recognizes that portion. And somebody just has to put that together.”
Savannah Guthrie shared several images of the masked individual seen on her porch on Instagram, writing on February 10, “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home.”
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 by her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, who dropped her off at her Catalina Foothills home in Tucson, Arizona, after a family get-together.
The following morning, February 1, authorities were alerted to her disappearance after she failed to respond to calls from friends and family. After droplets of blood were found on the porch, investigators declared the home a crime scene and launched an investigation. There has still been no proof of life.
