Nancy Guthrie Update: Masked Man Seen Again in Same Neighborhood on New Footage

Nancy Guthrie resided in Catalina Foothills near Tucson and disappeared in the middle of the night on January 31.
Three months after Nancy Guthrie went missing from her home, a masked man has again appeared in her neighborhood, committing another crime. Guthrie resided in Catalina Foothills near Tucson and disappeared in the middle of the night on January 31.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) later released surveillance camera footage that showed a masked man tampering with her doorbell camera. Now, another masked man has been seen committing theft at one of Guthrie’s neighbors’ properties.
Masked Man Stole Cacti from a Catalina Foothills Home
Masked man stole cacti from a Catalina Foothills home.
A Catalina Foothills resident who wished to remain anonymous posted Ring camera footage online that showed a gray Ford F-150 stopping outside a house. A masked man wearing gloves and a baseball cap stepped out of the truck and began loading multiple cacti placed outside the house into it.
The incident took place on April 29 at around 11 p.m. The theft has sparked concerns about rising crime in the otherwise quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Jeff Lamie, another neighbor of Guthrie, said the incidents have disturbed residents.
“It is someone walking on your property late at night, uninvited. It might be a small crime, but committing a crime, and it is disturbing. This drives a point home: that we have to be watchful, be aware of our homes but also of our neighbors,” Lamie said in an interview with News 4 Tucson.
However, there is no evidence suggesting that the masked man stealing cacti is connected to Guthrie’s case or any other case.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said it will investigate the matter. “We have not been advised of anything like this. We will do some research and keep you posted,” the department said in a statement.
Coming back to Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie has not been located for more than three months since her disappearance. Despite the FBI releasing footage of the masked man, the suspect has not been identified, and no arrests have been made so far.
The Investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance Continues
The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance continues.
The FBI is now examining DNA evidence, including a hair sample recovered from Guthrie’s home. The sample was previously tested at a private laboratory by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, but the results were negative.
Amid accusations of mishandling the case, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is now reportedly coordinating more closely with the FBI. Investigative journalist Brian Entin discussed the improved cooperation between the two agencies in an interview with Parade and said, “It’s an interesting situation because there’s a lot of animosity towards the sheriff.”
“I’m trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. And I have heard through sources that he’s working better with the FBI now. I know initially there were issues there with him not sharing information with the FBI. I’m told mostly that’s been resolved… I think he has good intentions. I really do,” Entin added.
Meanwhile, Guthrie’s family continues to hope for her return and has offered a $1 million reward for any information about her whereabouts. Her daughter, Savannah, returned to host the Today show last month after a long leave of absence.
