New Twist in Nancy Guthrie Case Following Neighbor’s 7-Word Message About “Atypical” Disappearance

One of Nancy Guthrie’s neighbors had an unusual experience on the nights of January 11 and January 31, both dates of interest in the investigation into her disappearance. Jeff Lamie, who lives in the same neighborhood as Guthrie, has revealed that his dogs woke him up in the middle of the night on both dates.

Lamie made the revelation during a recent appearance on Crime Stories with Nancy Grace. During the interview, the neighbor stated that his dogs roused him around 1 a.m. on February 1, around the same time Guthrie is believed to have been abducted from her home. A similar incident happened on January 11, when his dogs jolted him and signaled him to take them outside.

Lamie says it is unusual for his dogs to wake him up at that hour, especially because one of them is a deep sleeper. “It could be a coincidence, or it could be nothing. Just waking me up at that hour. That’s what was atypical. Actually, it hasn’t happened since,” Lamie said.

The man eventually took the dogs outside of the house; however, he did not notice anything suspicious in the neighborhood, neither did he hear any noise. When he later checked surveillance camera footage from that night, he noticed that one of his dogs appeared to be fixated on something in the distance for a long time.

“The dogs did rouse, and I took them out. There’s an image of me on camera. I didn’t hear nothing or saw nothing, but you know, animals can be, especially dogs can be hypersensitive and we don’t know if there’s a correlation,” Lamie said.

The neighbor said that he did not think much of the incident until investigators told residents to review their surveillance camera footage. He has already shared the details with investigators, but it remains to be seen if the clue will yield any results.

Since the beginning of the investigation, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have remained focused on the events of January 11 and January 31. While January 31 is the day when Guthrie was last seen, the significance of January 11 remained unclear for some time.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos recently disclosed that Google initially informed investigators that footage of a masked individual tampering with Guthrie’s doorbell camera may have been recorded on January 11. However, the tech giant later retracted the claim.

However, Nanos still believes that what happened on January 11 could hold the key to cracking the case. “There’s nothing there, critical that we can say positively say that this individual, with or without the backpack, was at that house, on Jan. 11. We do believe that something occurred on Jan. 11 and that’s with the FBI’s analysis of the equipment and digital stuff they’ve done,” he said in an interview with KOLD 13 News.
