Virginia Giuffre's Family Responds to Ex-Prince Andrew’s Arrest, Says ‘No One Is Above the Law’

Reacting to the arrest of former Prince Andrew, Giuffre’s siblings said the news brought relief after years of pain.
The family of Virginia Giuffre has spoken out following the arrest of former Prince Andrew, calling it a long-awaited step toward justice.
Giuffre first came forward in 2011, alleging that late financier Jeffrey Epstein ran a trafficking network with longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell that exploited underage girls. She later accused Andrew of sexually abusing her on three occasions after Epstein trafficked her to him.
She said in an interview that it was a “wicked” and “really scary time” in her life, and that she “couldn't comprehend how in the highest level of the government powerful people were allowing this to happen. Not just allowing but participating in it”.
In 2021, Giuffre filed Virginia Giuffre v. Prince Andrew. The civil lawsuit was settled in February 2022, with Andrew paying an undisclosed amount and making a charitable donation, while denying wrongdoing and admitting no liability.
Giuffre died by suicide on April 25, 2025, at her home in Neergabby, Western Australia. She was 41. Her memoir, 'Nobody’s Girl', was published posthumously in October 2025.
Giuffre pursued criminal and civil actions against Epstein and Maxwell.
He Was Never a Prince, Family Says
Reacting to the arrest, Giuffre’s siblings said the news brought relief after years of pain.
“At last, today, our broken hearts have been lifted at the news that no one is above the law — not even royalty,” they said in a statement reported by Global News.
They thanked Thames Valley Police for its investigation and arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, adding, “He was never a prince. For survivors everywhere, Virginia did this for you.”
The statement was signed by Giuffre’s siblings Sky and Amanda Roberts, and Danny and Lanette Wilson.
Epstein Survivor Speaks Out
Artist and Epstein accuser Maria Farmer, who says she filed one of the first criminal complaints against Epstein in 1996, also welcomed the development.
“Today is just the beginning of accountability and justice brought forth by Virginia Roberts Giuffre,” Farmer said in a statement quoted by USA Today. “She fought the most powerful on earth to protect her daughter — and everyone else’s.”
Andrew’s Arrest
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested by police on suspicion of misconduct in public office on February 19, on his birthday. King Charles expressed his “deepest concern” after the news of the arrest became public.
The Thames Valley Police stated in their official report that they arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.
Authorities did not disclose details of their investigation into Mountbatten-Windsor, but U.S. Justice Department documents suggest they may be examining whether he shared confidential government documents with Epstein.
He was later released and is under investigation.
