At about 1:30 p.m. on May 9, deputies arrived at the home in response to a domestic violence call and spoke with the victim, according to a sheriff’s office report obtained by WFMJ.
The defendant’s daughter told law enforcement that Canzonetta was “acting crazy” and had pushed both her and her mother in the hallway. The incident began when Canzonett entered his daughter’s room and commented on its condition, according to the report.
Canzonett allegedly made negative comments about the room's cleanliness. As the argument escalated, he moved closer to his daughter, deputies said. The victim asked her father to leave, but he allegedly refused. The confrontation then turned physical, authorities said.
The victim’s mother, who is the defendant’s wife, told police that she woke up to the sound of shouting and found them arguing in the hallway. As she attempted to intervene, Canzonett allegedly pushed her to the ground, deputies said.
As the situation escalated, the victim attempted to call 911, but Canzonett allegedly grabbed her by the neck and squeezed, according to the report. The woman told investigators she could not breathe during the incident.
Canzonett was not at home when deputies arrived. He was later located at his workplace and arrested the same day, authorities said.
He was booked into the Trumbull County Jail and later posted a $7,500 bond on May 11, 2026, after which he was released.
