An Ohio man was released from jail after serving time in connection to a domestic violence arrest. Weeks later, he is accused of killing the same victim.
On Feb. 15, officers were called to Hilltop Village Apartments in the 3500 block of Hilltop Boulevard on a “check the safety” call after family members said Ashley Darrington, 24, failed to drop off her two children, ages 1 and 2, at daycare that morning, WTOL 11 reported.
When officers arrived, they found Darrington dead in her bedroom with at least one gunshot wound, according to WTOL 11.
Her two children were inside the home and were unharmed, WTOL 11 reported.
Police identified 26-year-old Robert Sherman as the suspect in the case, according to WTOL 11. Sherman and Darrington have children together.
Sherman was released from prison weeks ago, where he was serving time for domestic violence against Darrington, according to WTOL 11.
An arrest warrant obtained by WTOL 11 stated that Sherman physically assaulted Darrington while she was 19 weeks pregnant with their second child in April 2020, WTOL 11 reported.
A witness told police they saw Sherman coming and going from the apartment several times in the past week, and the two were involved in loud arguments, according to WTOL 11.
Sherman was arraigned and his bond was set at $1 million, WTOL 11 reported.
