‘Pro-life Spider-Man’ gets 45 days in jail for climbing Las Vegas Sphere, causing $100K damage.
Maison Des Champs, the professional climber who calls himself ‘Pro-life Spiderman,’ will spend 45 days in prison for climbing the Las Vegas Sphere. The 26-year-old pulled off the stunt on February 7, 2024, when he illegally climbed the iconic structure, causing significant damage.
The Sphere's owners stated that the stunt caused around $100,000 in damage. At the time, Las Vegas Metro police arrested Des Champs and charged him with acting with willful or wanton disregard for the safety of people or property.
Maison Des Champs Pleaded Guilty in October 2025
Maison Des Champs pleaded guilty in October 2025.
As Des Champs was being taken into custody, he reportedly told police he would get away with it, claiming he had previously climbed buildings illegally without ever being convicted. However, he pleaded guilty to the gross misdemeanor charge in October 2025.
On April 20, a Clark County judge sentenced him to 45 days in prison and one year of probation with specific terms and conditions. If he fails to comply, his probation could be revoked, and he would be sent to prison for the rest of the year. The judge also ordered him to pay $77,270.32 in restitution to the Sphere Entertainment Complex.
Des Champs is a pro-life activist who has often made news for scaling skyscrapers without safety equipment. As for why he decided to climb the Sphere, he said he was helping raising money for a homeless woman named Isabel, who had scheduled an abortion. Des Champs said he needed money so that the woman would keep her child.
“I'm here on top of the Sphere. I guess they're gonna make me go through the top. I just wanted to say I'm doing this today to raise money for a mother named Isabel. She's homeless and pregnant and needs help, guys,” he said in a video posted on his Instagram from the top of the Sphere.

Des Champs also started a fundraiser for the woman, aiming to raise $25,000. “Maison Des Champs here, but you might know me better as the Pro-Life Spider-Man. Today, my mission transcends the adrenaline rush of scaling skyscrapers; it's about channeling our collective strength towards a cause far greater than any physical feat,” the activist wrote on the fundraiser page.
“Our mission is twofold: to offer Isabel the tangible support she desperately needs and to rally a community around her that believes in the power of hope and action,” he added. Though Des Champs was arrested, the campaign was successful as it raised more than $25,000.
The Activist Was Arrested Previously As Well
The activist was arrested for climbing the Aria Resort & Casino in August 2021.
This was not the first time the climber faced legal trouble for his stunts. Earlier in August 2021, he was arrested for climbing the Aria Resort & Casino. The stunt was a protest against COVID-19 mask mandates. He scaled the exterior of the 600-foot-tall hotel tower in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police met him at the top of the building and took him into custody. He was initially booked on misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and trespassing. The charges were later dismissed by prosecutors.
