Cory Mills Refuses To Resign Over Misconduct Allegations

Speaking with reporters at the Capitol, Mills clarified that he will not resign. In his words, “If someone can give me a good reason, I’d be more than happy to listen to it. But until we can do that, absolutely not, no — I don’t plan to resign. We’re going to seek re-election.”

The Republican representative admitted that he has been extremely cooperative with the ongoing probe. Mills added that he’s even turned in all the documents from his side. However, he sounded unsure about when the panel would be able to close in the investigation, which started way back in November.

Mills said, “Anything they’ve asked of us, we’ve complied. Why not let the investigating body and the Ethics Committee to be able to do their jobs? And so we comply. We’re very happy to see what the outcome is.”

Meanwhile, Congress has taken several steps so far and pressed for the expulsion of Cory Mills. GOP Rep. Nancy Mace from South Carolina introduced a joint resolution in this regard.

On April 20, she announced, “The swamp has protected Cory Mills for far too long, and we are done letting it slide. Any Member who votes to keep him here is voting to protect a woman-beater and a fraud. He needs to be expelled immediately.”

The calls for his expulsion have grown after several other accused lawmakers have stepped down from their offices over similar allegations.

Cory Mills Issues Blanket Denial Of Misconduct Allegations

Rep. Mills has, however, vehemently denied all allegations of sexual misconduct so far. According to NOTUS, he has also pushed back against pressure to resign, including from Nancy Mace. He has introduced a similar expulsion resolution against the South Carolina representative.

Mills spoke against the comparisons between the allegations levied against him and those against Swalwell or even Gonzales. During the court proceedings in 2025, he spoke with NewsNation and stated, “One, I’m not married, so there’s one thing. Two, I’ve never se***** harassed and/or had any complaints by any staffers or interns on the Hill. It’s just not even a fair comparison.”

So far, the lawmaker has only admitted to having been in a romantic relationship with a former staff member, who subsequently committed suicide. Over the other allegations that he’s been accused of, no statement from his office was given out as a response.
