A man in Massachusetts has been charged in connection with the alleged beating death of his wife inside their home, according to authorities.
Around 8:20 p.m. on July 15, officers responded to a 911 call regarding an ongoing assault inside a home in Newton, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
At the scene, police found 54-year-old Nancy Hanson suffering from apparent blunt force injuries, officials said.
She was taken to a local hospital, where she died.
Investigators believe her husband, 64-year-old Richard Hanson, hit her multiple times with one or more objects, including a baseball bat, authorities said.
An autopsy was completed and determined the rule of death was homicide and the cause was blunt force trauma.
On July 13, the Newton District Court issued a restraining order against Hanson, but police were still attempting to serve it.
Hanson was arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder, officials said.
