D4vd Being Held In Segregated Unit
D4vd moved to new jail awaiting trial
According to TMZ, David Burke has reportedly been transferred to Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail. The report further states that due to his public figure status, he was moved late on April 20 and is now being held in a segregated unit.
Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s body was found inside the front trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke. The discovery was made at a tow yard on September 8, 2025. However, authorities believe the body remained inside the trunk for at least four months before it was found.
According to a criminal complaint, Hernandez, 14, ran away from her home in Riverside County and was invited to D4vd’s Hollywood Hills home on April 23. Her family has not heard from her since.
Five months later, her body was discovered in a decomposed and dismembered condition. According to investigators, Burke allegedly murdered the teen with a “sharp instrument.” He allegedly dismembered her body before placing it in the front trunk of his vehicle.
On April 21, he was charged with first-degree murder, repeated s--ual abuse of a child under the age of 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. The criminal complaint included special circumstance allegations of murder of a witness, murder for financial gain, and lying in wait. If convicted, Burke could face the death penalty.
Authorities Reveal Possible Motive Behind D4vd's Crime
D4vd promoted his music after allegedly killing Celeste
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, the 21-year-old singer allegedly killed Celeste Rivas Hernandez after she threatened to expose him, which prosecutors said could have put his music career at risk. “Celeste was just a child, under 14 years old, when David Burke allegedly engaged in repeated lewd and lascivious s--ual relations with her,” said DA Nathan Hochman.
He added, “But Burke’s actions did not allegedly stop there. When she threatened to expose his criminal conduct and devastate his musical career, Burke allegedly murdered her, cut up her body and stuffed her body in two bags that were placed in the front trunk of his car.”
D4vd’s social media pages showed that he was still promoting his new music on April 23, 2025, the date he is accused of killing the girl, according to prosecutors. He was also promoting his music tour while the teen’s decomposing body remained inside his car’s trunk.
However, after the discovery, the tour was canceled, along with several other event appearances he was scheduled for. Following the charge, members of the public have called for his music to be removed from streaming platforms.
