A man in Minnesota was sentenced to 138 months behind bars, or 11.5 years, after he pleaded guilty to killing his 3-month-old daughter 14 years ago when she wouldn’t stop crying.

Benjamin Alexander Russell, 38, recently formally entered a guilty plea in connection with the second-degree murder of his newborn girl, Suvanna LeeAnn Kreye-Russell, in January 2009, show court documents obtained by KSTP-TV reported.

As FrontPageDetectives previously reported, Russell told the baby’s mother, Natilie Kreye, that their little girl was crying in her crib while he was watching her at their Coon Rapids home and he “couldn’t handle it,” so he placed a pillow over her face to “muffle the sound,” according to a criminal complaint.

Russell, a father of two, admitted to the crime last summer after the mother contacted police and claimed he told her that he was responsible for their daughter’s death.

Russell's defense lawyers said before the defendant's sentencing that he admitted to what happened after his "faith overcame" him, KARE reported.

"I feel like she was cheated," Kreye told the station about her daughter. "To give him 138 months is extremely unfair. It's unfair to her because she only got three months of her life."
