LAPD Responds After ‘SNL’ Writer Jimmy Fowlie Says Sister is Dead

Jimmy Fowlie shared an emotional update four months after his sister Christina Downer was reported missing.
‘Saturday Night Live’ writer and comedian Jimmy Fowlie’s sister, Christina Lynn Downer, was reported missing in December 2025 after her family lost contact with her in late November.
Now, four months later, Fowlie has shared a heartbreaking update on the case. In an Instagram post on April 30, he revealed that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) informed his family that Christina was found dead and that the case has officially transitioned from a missing-person case to a homicide investigation.
However, the LAPD disputed that account and said in the latest statement that it “continues to investigate” her disappearance.
The Fowlie family lost contact with Christina Downer in late November.
“Although the circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious, Ms. Downer has not been located, and her case has not been reclassified as a homicide,” the department wrote in a statement.
“The [Robbery-Homicide Division] will diligently investigate this case until a resolution can be reached,” the New York Post reported.
The SNL writer has not acknowledged the latest comments from the police.
While thanking people for their support in this “terrible time”, Fowlie also announced that he is taking a step back from social media due to “intense overwhelming feelings.”
She Was A Beautiful Person Who Mattered To Me: Jimmy Fowlie
“Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable,” he wrote in the emotional post.
Fowlie also alleged that Christina’s phone and social media accounts may have been compromised in the weeks leading up to her disappearance. “We have reason to believe that in the weeks before she went missing, her phone and social media were compromised,” he wrote.
“The individual(s) in possession of her phone used it to hide the fact she was gone, to ask for money, and to create a false narrative that she was going “off the grid.””
He continued, “I am sharing this because I believe that whoever is responsible is hoping to erase her in every way possible. I want to amplify her story in the only way I know how. And to express that she was a beautiful person who matters in this world, especially to me.”
Jimmy Fowlie has been sharing emotional updates on social media.
Fowlie added that he believes someone with information about the case may eventually come forward and help investigators uncover the truth behind Christina’s disappearance and death.
Several celebrities also shared the post on their social media accounts in hopes of helping investigators uncover what happened to Downer.
Suspicious Activity On Social Media
After Downer was reported missing, a suspicious post appeared on her Instagram Stories on Dec.14 that read, “Living life in peace. If you wanna send me a Christmas treat I’ll be waiting. Happy holidays everyone.”
The LAPD has not yet identified who shared the post, or if her account was hacked by someone.
In an earlier update, Fowlie said that the last time he saw his sister was on September 17, and the last time anyone spoke to her on the phone was October 5.
“Texts from her phone continued through December and the last social media post was December 15. if you have seen my sister or know anything please call lapd or the anonymous tip line or email findchristinaLA@gmail.com,” he urged on social media.
“My sister has been missing and we are worried that she isn’t safe,” Fowlie previously wrote on Instagram. “Her married name is Downer but she may go by Christina Fowlie. Please share this so that if anyone has seen her, they can give information to the police.”
