A 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly barging into a Portland home and attempting to assault a mother of two. Judson Defir has been accused of attacking multiple women within a few hours on March 15.

He was caught after first responders were called to a home near Southeast 67th Avenue and Southeast Brooklyn Street. The victim told police that while she was caring for her 3-year-old and 10-month-old children in her room, the man entered wearing a hoodie and said, “Honey, I'm here.”

Defir Allegedly Forced the Victim Onto the Bed

The woman said she had heard his footsteps but thought her husband, who was working in the yard, had entered the house. The accused then allegedly forced the victim to move to a guest bedroom and forced her onto the bed, while she held the 10-month-old child.

"Once in the bedroom, the male forced [the mother] onto the bed by her hips. [The mother] was face down on the bed and held the baby in her arms. The pressure from the male was pressing on her back and causing her to press on the baby,” the arrest affidavit reads.

The victim then allegedly pleaded with Defir to let her place her baby in the crib. Once he allowed her, the woman ran to another room and barricaded the door with a bookshelf. She then alerted her husband, who ran inside along with a group of people from a nearby church. However, Defir fled the scene before the group could reach him.

Portland Police Bureau (PPB) eventually found him near Southeast 68th Avenue and Southeast Clinton Street. He was being followed by more than a dozen people during his arrest. Defir has been charged with first-degree attempted r***, kidnapping, and outstanding warrants.

Defir is Accused of Assaulting Multiple Women

Following his arrest, the police found out that Defir had allegedly assaulted three other women in the neighborhood that day. Shortly after entering the home and attacking the mother, he had allegedly touched a woman inappropriately in a church. He has also been accused of grabbing two other women who were walking in the area.

“Responding officers determined that minutes before this attack [on the mother], the suspect entered a nearby church where he touched a woman inappropriately before fleeing. In addition to these two incidents, the male is suspected of grabbing two other women who were walking in the neighborhood,” police said in a press release.

Once in custody, he allegedly made s—-- remarks towards a female police officer. Defir is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center without bail. His next hearing is scheduled for March 18.

Meanwhile, the neighborhood is horrified by the incident. “It’s really shocking, and it’s difficult because people were attacked and that’s absolutely horrible, usually this is a very safe neighborhood, so it just comes as a surprise and a shock that this happened,” one local individual told Fox 12.

Another neighbor highlighted that they will have to be more vigilant now, as they said, “You never know, you can’t assume that whoever you’re seeing walking down the street isn’t going to shove you into a car or whatever, so it’s always good to keep your head on a swivel.”
