Sunvalley Shopping Center Robbery: Jewelry Case Smashed, Employee Pepper-Sprayed

Smash-and-grab robbery reported inside Sunvalley Mall.
A jewerly robbery inside the Sunvalley Shopping Centre Mall in Concord, California, ended in chaos on May 13. According to authorities, suspects stole an unknown amount of jewerly after pepper-spraying staff at a kiosk. The perpetrators remain at large.
The incident occurred around 12:16 p.m. on May 13 when the Concord Police Department responded to reports of possible gunshots inside the shopping centre. However, upon arrival, officers determined that the situation involved a robbery, and no shots had been fired.
Sunvalley Mall Robbery Suspects Still At Large
The suspects were armed and pepper-sprayed employees working at the jewelry kiosk.
Police said the suspects were wearing hooded sweatshirts and gloves. They were armed with hammers, which they used to smash jewellery cases at a Piercing Pagoda kiosk. Authorities have not disclosed the exact value of the stolen jewellery.
According to officials, the suspects pepper-sprayed employees working at the kiosk. Fortunately, the employees did not suffer any serious injuries. After the robbery, the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.
The Concord Police Department said the suspects were last seen heading toward Sunvalley Boulevard. As of now, there is no additional information regarding their identities, and the investigation is ongoing.

Sunvalley Mall Continues To Fall Victim To Robbery Cases Over Years
In February, robbers escaped with $5000 worth of merchandise from a Sunvalley Mall store.
This is not the first time Sunvalley shopping centre has been targeted in smash-and-grab robberies.
In 2024, a similar incident happened in Kay Jewellers, where suspects wearing dark clothing stole jewelry and fled within two minutes.
Although no injuries were reported, the incident alarmed store employees. In December 2025, another smash-and-grab was reported at the mall, where suspects used hammers to break display cases before escaping in a waiting vehicle.
In February 2026, the shopping center experienced another burglary, described as grand theft. Police said eight men entered a store carrying bags and fled with approximately $5,000 worth of merchandise before officers arrived.
