Teen Kart Racer Accused of Fatal Stabbing of Airbnb Host Hours After Check-In

Enzo Bettamio has been accused of fatally stabbing his Airbnb host before fleeing the country.
A teenage international kart racer, accused of stabbing his Airbnb host to death in London just hours after checking into her home, has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates on April 24. He was arrested and charged with murder upon arrival in the UK.
The suspect, Enzo Bettamio, was 16 at the time of the alleged attack in April 2024.
During a brief court hearing held by video link, Bettamio spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, and address. Judge Simon Mayo remanded him in custody and set a provisional trial date for February 1, 2027. A plea hearing is scheduled for July 14.
The victim identified as Kamonnan Thiamphaint, 27, also known as Angela, was found dead in her home near Marble Arch, London. A jury was told she was stabbed and had multiple wounds across her body. A large silver knife was found lodged in her neck.

Prosecutor Nadeem Holland said Thiamphaint was last seen alive at 4:24 a.m. on April 6, 2024, after returning home in an Uber. Earlier that night, she had been with friends playing board games. She left suddenly, saying there was an emergency at her home.
Bettamio arrived in the UK from Los Angeles on April 5. He had booked a room in Thiamphaint’s home for a month using Airbnb. Within hours of checking in, the attack is believed to have taken place.
It was reported in the court that Bettamio left the property soon after. About 13 hours later, he took a taxi to Heathrow Airport and boarded a flight to Dubai.
Thiamphaint was reported missing by friends on April 8. Police then found her body inside the home. A post-mortem confirmed she died from multiple sharp force injuries.
Her friends had contacted police twice before the body was discovered. The case was first treated as a lower-level missing person inquiry. This led to criticism from her boyfriend, Chris Zeng, and her mother, Fiona Fu. Following the concerns, the Metropolitan Police referred itself to an independent watchdog.
Enzo Bettamio, a Kart racer, has been remanded for stabbing his Airbnb host to death.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, the lead investigator, thanked the victim’s family and friends. “I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Angela’s family and friends for their patience and unwavering support to the investigation, throughout what has been an incredibly difficult and distressing time for them,” Foxwell said.
