Teen Vanished After Saying She Was Going to Park; 10 Years Later, Police Find ‘Anomalies’ Beneath Home

Investigators continue investigation into the missing case of 17-year-old Kianna Galvin.
The authorities are digging near a house in Illinois after they found abnormalities in their investigation into the disappearance of a teenager ten years ago. A forensic excavation at a home in South Elgin, Illinois, is being conducted as they continue to investigate the 2016 case regarding the disappearance of a teenage girl.
Kianna Galvin was last seen in May 2016 going to a park.
The 17-year-old who disappeared in 2016 has been identified as Kianna Galvin. She was last seen in South Elgin, a suburb of Chicago, on May 6, 2016, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
On the day of her alleged disappearance, Galvin told her sister that she was going to a nearby park. She went to the Jim Henson Park but never returned, according to a statement released by the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.
The Kane County State's Attorney's Office announced on May 7, 2026 that authorities have started "a forensic excavation at the residence at the 800 block of Revera road," in south Elgin as a part of the investigation into the missing case.
This development came after investigators scanned the ground near the property with a ground penetrating rader and found anomalies beneath the surface that detectives determined warranted further investigation.

According to reports from ABC affiliate WLS-TV, a neighbor said he saw Galvin enter that home the day she went missing, but never saw her again. The neighbor also claimed that the home where he saw Galvin enter was the one where a friend of the teenager lived. However, he confirmed that he no longer lives there.
Carolyn Cynowa, a friend of the victim's family, said, "The teen left everything at home the day she vanished, including her purse and wallet."
Kane County State's Attorney Jamie L. Mosser urged anyone with information about Galvin's case to contact the police.
"Ten years have passed since Galvin disappeared, and the loss is still felt deeply by the family, her friends and this entire community," Mosser said.
"My heart remains with all those who continue to carry the pain," she added.
Galvin, who would now be 23 years old, is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 150 lbs, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
Galvin was last seen on May 2016, wearing a black tank top and black yoga pants with studs on the outside, brown sunglasses, and size 9 Nike zebra-print flip-flops.
