Texas Mother Killed Outside Abilene Nightclub in Apparent Murder-Suicide, Estranged Boyfriend Dead Too

A Texas mother was shot and killed outside an Abilene nightclub during the early hours of May 3 after an argument with her estranged boyfriend, which turned deadly. According to the police investigating the incident, it appears to be a case of murder-suicide.

According to a detailed statement from the City of Abilene, officers were called to the Vybz nightclub in the 100 block of Eplens Court at about 2 a.m. on May 3 and here were reports of a shooting in the parking lot.

Upon their arrival, the officers found 25-year-old Ariana Herrera dead inside her vehicle. Police said she had been shot while she was in the car.

A second body was also found at a short distance away in the parking lot. Authorities identified the man as 26-year-old Jalavion Beaver, Herrera’s estranged boyfriend. Investigators have claimed that Beaver died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The police have shared that the shooting happened after the couple had argued outside the nightclub.

“Information at the scene indicates they argued in the parking lot,” the City of Abilene said in its report. “Beaver is accused of shooting Herrera while she was in her vehicle before shooting himself.”

Authorities have not shared what led to the altercation between the couple. Police have also not released any details about the weapon used or whether witnesses saw the shooting happen.

As the investigation remains ongoing, the deaths have shocked Herrera’s family, leaving them in grief and rallying support for her young son.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help cover her funeral expenses and support the child. Herrera was described as a loving sister and devoted mother whose death has devastated relatives and friends.

“We are heartbroken to share that our beloved sister was taken from us far too soon,” the fundraiser states.

“She was a light in our lives—kind, loving, and always there when anyone needed her. Her laughter could fill a room, and her heart was bigger than words can describe.”

Friends and community members have also shared their tributes online, while sharing condolences to her family.

A candlelight vigil also took place in Herrera’s honor in the Vybz parking lot on Eplens Court at 7:30 p.m. on May 4.
