Luis Marcano-Marcano, 41, was reportedly intoxicated on April 11 during a birthday celebration at their home. The incident unfolded after guests left the party, leaving him alone with his seven-month-pregnant wife, Sabrina Campos.

According to the man, the pair were on the back porch and had an argument. He said he took his pistol and began shooting at the ground near his wife’s feet. When he placed it on the rail of the back porch, Campos went to grab it.

When she tried to put it in her pocket, that’s when the incident occurred, as she accidentally shot herself in the stomach, “killing the unborn baby,” the police report stated.

According to WBTV, before police arrived, Marcano-Marcano threw the weapon into the woods and took his wife to the hospital. He was later arrested in Mint Hill near Charlotte and charged with discharging a firearm within city limits.
