While speaking to reporters on February 19, Trump strongly criticized the comments made by Obama, and said “I don’t know if they are real or not, I just know that he has given out classified information.”

“He is not supposed to be doing that. He made a big mistake. He took it out of classified information,” Trump added.

“I don’t have an opinion on it. I won't talk about it. A lot of people do and a lot of people believe in it,” added the President.

Later, on social media, Trump said that because of the “tremendous interest shown”, he asked the Department of Defense and other agencies to disclose records related to aliens, unidentified aerial phenomenon and unidentified flying objects.

“They are not being kept at Area 51, there are no underground facilities. Unless there is this enormous conspiracy that they hid from the president of the United States of America,” Obama added.

This former president's brief remarks during a rapid-fire question segment quickly gained traction on social media. The former president later released a statement on his social media account clarifying his comments.
