Wife arrested in connection with husband's murder after 24 years
A woman has been arrested in connection with her husband’s murder in 2002. On April 20, the Frisco Police Department said in a press release, “We are thankful for our investigators who have put countless hours into this case, as well as the Waxahachie Police Department for their assistance with this arrest.”
The Case Was Solved Through ‘New Information From A Key Witness’
Lisa Honrud arrested after 24 years
The woman is Lisa Honrud, 55, from Waxahachie, Texas. Her husband, Frank Weiss, was found dead near Lake Lewisville in 2002. On Monday, Frisco detectives, with assistance from the Waxahachie Police Department, arrested her shortly before 8 a.m.
In a press release, the Frisco Police Department said the cold case was solved through “advancements in investigative techniques, modern technology, and new information from a key witness.”
Frisco Police Chief David Shilson added, “For 24 years, the Weiss family has waited for answers. Today’s arrest is an important step toward justice, and we will continue working until everyone involved is held accountable.”
Honrud’s arrest was announced on Facebook by the Frisco Police Department, and the department was praised for cracking the cold case after more than two decades. Many users praised the detectives’ work that led to Honrud’s arrest.
Investigators have also asked for help from the public, especially if they have any information about related offenses.
After the ex-wife was arrested, Weiss’s daughter, Carla, spoke with NBC5. She now believes that others who are involved in her father’s murder will soon be brought to justice.
“My dad was a wonderful man, the kind of guy who put me on his shoulders for three hours to ride the pink dumbo because no other color would do. The kind of guy who DJ’d my 16th birthday party and all my friends knew as Daddy Frank,” she said.
Carla added, “He deserved better than this, and we deserved to have him in our lives a lot longer than we did.”

Another cold case in Texas has been solved after decades. Norman Prater went missing in January 1973. For 52 years, his case remained unsolved and was one of the oldest missing persons cases in the state.
In 1973, investigators made progress but could not identify him. More than five decades later, officials linked him to a 1973 incident in which an unidentified man was killed in a hit-and-run.
In late 2025, a photo of the unidentified victim was provided to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. After a detective made the connection, Prater’s older brother came forward and positively identified him.
