American woman who was living her retirement dream was reported missing at sea.
The American couple was building a social media following and forging connections across the country as they lived their retirement dream, said one of the couple's close friends.
The woman who was reported missing has been identified as 55-year-old Lynette Hooker, and her husband has been identified as 58-year-old Brian Hooker.
The couple, on April 4, left their Inn, Abaco Inn, located in Hope Town at around 7:30 p.m., which was just a couple of minutes after sunset. The couple allegedly left in a small boat as they were headed to their yacht in Elbow Cay, according to Bahamian officials.

The victim's husband, Brian Hooker, told officials that while they were headed to their yacht, in the small boat known as a dinghy, his wife, Lynette Hooker, fell off the boat into the water with the ignition key, which resulted in the engine shutting off. According to Hooker, his wife was carried away after she fell into the water. Hooker paddled back to a marina at Marsh Harbor and reported his wife missing at around 4 a.m. on April 5.
John Waters, a friend of the couple, said in a interview with Fox News Digital that he met them at an oyster bar in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2023. Waters said that the couple was on a journey along the Gulf of America.
“Their new lifestyle was this boat that they picked up in Texas. They spent a year working on it,” Waters said. He described the couple as nice and said they were going for their retirement dream of sailing. He said the couple wasn’t that experienced in boating. The search operation for Lynette has been on for three days.
Richard Cook, team leader with Hope Town Volunteer Fire and Rescue, said that foul play was not suspected. “It was just a lot of bad decisions,” Cook said. “Night time, very windy, no moon out yet, so it was pitch dark and very rough conditions for the small boat they were in.”
However, in a separate interview, Karli Aylesworth, Lynette Hooker's daughter, said that her stepfather, Brian Hooker, had a history of being violent toward her mother.
“I do believe something has happened to her,” she said. “There is a history of them choking her out and threatening to throw her overboard. So the fact that this is actually happening makes me believe there is more to the story.” She also said in one of her interviews that Brian Hooker's behavior would shift while he was drinking alcohol.
However, Brian Hooker has not been charged with any crime.
