A 11-year old fatally shoots his mother's boyfriend over assault.

A 30-year-old man, identified by the police as Jaimeer Jones Walker, was fatally shot on March 5. According to police in Philadelphia, Walker was shot by an 11-year-old boy who is the son of Walker's girlfriend. Officers were called to the 1100 block of Peach Street at about 11:40 p.m. on March 5. According to reports by ABC-affiliate WPVI, the 11-year-old allegedly shot Walker in the face after witnessing an argument between him and his girlfriend that later turned physical.

What was the fight about?

According to WPVI, the argument between Walker and his girlfriend stemmed from visitation with the couple’s newborn baby who was at a hospital. Police said the argument moved inside the home, to a second-floor bedroom, where it allegedly turned physical.

As reported by NBC affiliate WCAU, the 11-year-old boy allegedly shot Walker after witnessing the older man physically assault his mother in her bedroom. Walker did not live at the residence with his girlfriend and her son, according to reports. The boy fired one shot that fatally wounded Walker, investigators said.

According to police, the gun used was legally registered to his mother. Both mother and the boy remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. They later went to Philadelphia police headquarters to be interviewed by homicide detectives.

The Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said, “He was unresponsive. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to his face.” Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Also on the second floor, in another room, we did find a semiautomatic handgun. We believe that was the weapon that was used to fire the shot,” Small added.

Witness Statement

According to WCAU, Shreeya Blocker, a neighbor of the boy and his mother, said she had heard the couple arguing before. She said she heard them “arguing and fighting, but that’s nothing new with them. It’s a shame. It shouldn't be like that.”

Another neighbor, Gilbert Blocker, while speaking to WCAU, said he was worried about the boy. He said, “The things he is going to suffer in his heart if he has feelings, are going to last him not just now but for the rest of his life.”

No arrests were made on March 5. As the investigation into the case is ongoing, more details are yet to be revealed. The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office has not announced any charges.
