20-Year-Old Woman Plows Tesla Into Pedestrians, Officers Cite Signs of Intoxication

Kaydence Carpenter has been charged with four counts of second-degree assault.

A woman from Kentucky has been arrested and charged after she hit four pedestrians in the early hours of March 22. She was driving her Tesla Model 3 and was under the influence when the incident occurred.
The footage showed the 20-year-old woman driving her car through pedestrians on March 22.
The 20-year-old woman from Kentucky was arrested and charged with hitting four pedestrians on March 22. The woman has been identified as Kaydence Carpenter from Frankfort. According to authorities, video footage showed Carpenter reversing her black Tesla in a parking lot before abruptly plowing forward straight through a crowd of people at around 2:20 a.m. on March 22.
Surveillance video footage of the incident was acquired by WKYT. After authorities reviewed the surveillance footage, they immediately apprehended Carpenter. The footage showed Carpenter mounting the curb and surging through the assembled pedestrians, sending several of them flying off her hood, before she proceeded in the wrong direction down Short Street.
Carpenter was quickly stopped by the officers, who wrote in their arrest citation that Carpenter’s action created “substantial danger of death and/or serious physical injury to others.”
Authorities added that Carpenter displayed an “extreme indifference to the value of human life.

The arresting officers also mentioned that Carpenter exhibited bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, and a variety of emotional effects. They noted that there was an odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from Carpenter.
During a routine search of the vehicle, officers recovered a fake identification and a valid driving license from Carpenter’s car. According to authorities, Carpenter refused to take a breath test at the scene and showed signs of impairment during a field sobriety test, which she later participated in at Fayette County Detention Centre.
Carpenter was charged with four counts of second-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment. She was also charged with DUI, reckless driving, and allowing a person under the age of 21 on premises where alcohol is sold. Carpenter was later released after she posting $5,000 bail.
In another incident in Oregon, a 19-year-old teenager, while driving under the influence, crashed into a light pole, resulting in the death of another teenager who was sitting in the passenger seat. Other people in the car sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a hospital.
The teenager was driving the car at a high speed under the influence of alcohol when the tragic incident occurred. According to the probable cause arrest warrant, the teenager had consumed Four Loko alcoholic beverages while driving the car.
