Disgraced former royal prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor made his royal exit earlier this year. Leaving behind the luxurious comforts of the palace, he has now settled down at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. A man linked to the sporadic episode has been charged by the Norfolk Police after allegedly intimidating the former prince. A statement has also been released by the department in lieu of the recent developments.

Andrew Mountbatten Encounters Threats While Walking His Dogs

A Daily Telegraph report revealed that the incident occurred on April 6 at around 07:30 BST, when Mountbatten was walking his dogs. A man clad in a balaclava started threatening and intimidating him. It forced him to speedily return to his car along with his private security cover. The suspect reportedly tried sprinting as the former Duke of York drove out of the scene.

The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Alex Jenkinson. The Norfolk Police received a call almost immediately about a man behaving in an intimidating manner in the village. He was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon.

Later, he was questioned at the King’s Lynn Police Investigation Center. Jenkinson was then charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or using insulting words or behaviour to harass someone or cause alarm or distress. Additionally, he was also charged with failing to provide a specimen of blood while in custody.

Norfolk Police Issue Statement After Andrew Faces Harassment

In the wake of the incident, the Norfolk Police issued a public statement explaining their plan of action so far against the offender. They revealed that Jenkinson will be questioned for his motive after being charged for misbehavior.

An excerpt from their statement read “Alex Jenkinson, aged 39 and of Stowmarket, Suffolk, has since been charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to harass someone or cause alarm or distress and failing to provide a specimen of blood in custody. He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court tomorrow (Friday 8 May 2026).”

Security breach for Andrew as man threatens him in Norfolk

Andrew Mountbatten Exposed To More Threat After Being Stripped Of Royal Titles

It was by November 2025 that King Charles III stripped all royal titles from his sibling, Andrew Mountbatten. The latter’s alleged connection with the late convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein was the prime reason that fueled such a move by the monarch.

The change of homes for the former prince has ended up weakening his security completely. The Norfolk estate is said to be highly accessible to the general public. As Mountbatten no longer enjoys the privileges of a royal security cordon, he is considered more vulnerable to risks and threats than before.

A statement from a source close to the former Duke of York echoed similar sentiments after the recent harassment incident. The individual stated, “This shows why Andrew’s security provisions need to be proportionate and properly balanced for an individual with a very high profile. Surely this demonstrates why his security should be reviewed.”
