Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell Resigns Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations as Investigation Deepens

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell resigned from office after multiple sexual misconduct allegations against him. While he has denied wrongdoing, the investigation remains ongoing.

So far, at least five women have made allegations against Swalwell. One of them, model Lonna Drewes, alleged that Swalwell sexually assaulted her inside a hotel in West Hollywood. Other accusers have also described misconduct they say they experienced.

According to a recent report by the New York Post, the U.S. Department of Justice is investigating allegations made against Jailed LA Socialite Sends Message to Mother of 2 Children Killed in Crosswalk Crash. This follows the assignment of a prosecutor to the case to begin a criminal investigation.

Prosecutors in New York are working with detectives in Los Angeles to investigate the allegations. Authorities are said to have gathered evidence that could be used to scrutinize Swalwell based on the claims.

On the other hand, Washington, D.C., U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced Thursday the opening of a hotline. The hotline is available to anyone who may have information about Eric Swalwell’s alleged se--al or other inappropriate conduct during his time in office.

Kash Patel also made a similar statement in a post on social media, writing, “We would welcome him to sit down with the FBI and share any information he has. We also encourage and welcome any person with relevant information to any of these matters to speak with us. The door is open to all.”

In his defense, Eric Swalwell has sweepingly dismissed all the accusations. Instead, he defined some of his actions as ‘mistakes in judgement’. In the same post, he also announced quitting the Congress as well as exiting the gubernatorial race.

An excerpt from his post on X read as “I am deeply sorry to my family, staff, and constituents for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegations made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I made.”

Model Lonna Drewes, 50, alleged that in 2018, Swalwell drugged, choked, and then raped her. The incident allegedly took place inside a hotel room when the two were scheduled to attend a political event together. She alleged that the Democratic representative lured her there under the pretext of helping grow her fashion business.

Recalling the incident, Drewes told the press, “When I arrived at his hotel room, I was already incapacitated, and I couldn’t move my arms over my body. He r***** me, and he choked me. And while he was choking me, I lost consciousness. I thought I died.”

Another accuser also alleged that Swalwell intoxicated her and sexually assaulted her, saying he refused to stop even after she asked him to.
