A nurse working at Weston County Health Services Hospital faced a disturbing night after a law enforcement officer repeatedly followed her. The reason for the man’s behavior was not immediately clear, but he was arrested for loitering outside the hospital for several hours. According to reports, the woman repeatedly asked him to leave her alone.

Court documents further state that at the time of his arrest, the man was found to be armed. He had a loaded handgun in his pocket. Additionally, he was also carrying a folded knife, brass knuckles, and a cellphone.

Cop Threatens Nurse For Hours, Calls And Texts Incessantly

The nurse repeatedly received a series of threatening text messages from 36-year-old Nicholas Joseph Kaminski, a New Castle police sergeant. He warned her that she had three minutes to come out of the hospital or he would enter the premises.

In one of the messages he sent to the woman, Kaminski demanded that she take her “f---ing a outside,” using explicit language. In subsequent messages, he wrote, “U have 3 minutes to either come out here or answer the phone. Answer the f---ing phone. U made this worse by not coming outside.”

The nurse responded, “Please just stop all of this. It doesn't have to be like this. You are the only one making it this way. Please.” After some time, Kaminski left the premises temporarily but continued calling and texting the nurse throughout the night.

An eyewitness to the incident later revealed spotting Kaminski lurking outside the hospital at around 3 a.m. He wore dark clothes and tried to keep himself hidden.

When the nurse then proceeded to return home in the daybreak after her work, the sergeant appeared again. This time, he appeared more ferocious and was spotted closely chasing the nurse as she rushed towards her car. However, she was guarded by a law enforcement officer who immediately demanded that Kaminski quit stalking and leave.

The officer allegedly reminded Kaminski that “She doesn't want to talk to you.” To this, the 36-year-old responded, “I don't give a f***. Shut the f**** up.” He then started to sprint and chase as the nurse tried to exit from the hospital in her car.

Stalker Cop Arrested And Charged

Kaminski was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery. He was also charged with threatening another person with a drawn deadly weapon. Investigators found him armed with a Glock 48 handgun that had one round already chambered, with 10 additional rounds in the magazine.

If convicted, his offense could carry a federal prison sentence of at least 10 years. Additionally, he could face a fine of up to $10,000, or both.

Owing to his actions, the sergeant was also relieved from his duty at the New Castle Police Department. The Chief of Police confirmed the move, Derek Thompson, through a statement on May 27.

In his words, “Nicholas Kaminski has been relieved from duty with the Newcastle Police Department as of May 22, 2026. There is an ongoing investigation into the events that led to his arrest. Publicly available information regarding any criminal charges in this case is available through the public access terminal at the Weston County Courthouse.”
