Travis Scott Warren, 41, a Green River man, has been accused of threatening to “saw off” his wife’s head during an argument. As the violence escalated, their 12-year-old son also fell victim and broke his wrist, according to authorities.

Warren has been charged on April 24, for three counts of aggravated assault and one count of child abuse, according to Sweetwater Circuit Court records. He remains in the Sweetwater County Detention Center.

The incident was first reported on March 7, when the Green River Police Department was called to the defendant's home.

When police arrived at Warren’s residence, he told officers his wife had ‘kicked him in the head multiple times’ and that he was ‘hurt,’ according to court records.

He was taken to the hospital, and investigators soon learned that his 12-year-old son was being treated there for a broken wrist, according to an affidavit of probable cause prepared by the Wyoming Department of Family Services.

'A Lot of Fighting Between Parents'

When officers interviewed the child, he described a home filled with escalating violence. The 12-year-old said there had been “a lot of fighting between his parents” and that he had seen his father hit his mother with an olive oil bottle, according to the affidavit.

On March 7, the boy said he saw his parents arguing in the kitchen when his father grabbed a knife and started advancing toward his mother. He intervened.

According to the affidavit, the child, in an attempt to protect his mother, knocked the knife from his father’s hand and grabbed him from behind. “There was a struggle and Warren pulled their son off of him, and their son felt something pop in his wrist,” the affidavit said.

Woman Narrates Abuse Incidents

The child’s mother also confirmed his account. She said her son was hurt while trying to protect her.

She told police the argument with Warren had turned frightening when he allegedly threatened her life, the affidavit said. She said he told her numerous times that he was going to kill her. When he grabbed the knife, she believed he was only trying to intimidate her.

As the violence continued, the mother told officers Warren reportedly tried to hit her with an olive oil bottle. Detectives took note of the olive oil stains on her sweatshirt, according to the affidavit.

The mother said Warren allegedly punched her in the head inside the bathroom. The woman also recalled being struck with a wire toilet paper dispenser because the pain from the impact of that particular object stung, investigators claim.

Warren then made an even more chilling threat, the affidavit said. He threatened to “saw her head off” with a knife in the bathtub, according to the charging document.

The woman also reported that he tried to “spear” her with a red broom before she was finally able to get away.

Warren was arrested on March 8 and initially booked on a $75,000 cash or surety bond. He is currently detained on a lowered bond of $20,000. If convicted, court records indicate Warren could face more than 40 years in prison.
