Man Who Killed Ole Miss Student in DUI Crash Released From Prison 9 Years Early

Seth Garron Rokitka, 30, pleaded guilty to DUI and hit-and-run in a 2022 crash that killed one and injured another.
A man who had pleaded guilty to a DUI hit-and-run case in 2022, which killed an Ole Miss student and injured another, has been released nine years early from prison on the basis of ‘good behavior.’ The man was initially sentenced to 10 years in prison, but a judge suspended the sentence.
The fatal crash occurred in Oxford, Mississippi, killing a 21-year-old student.
The 30-year-old man, identified as Seth Garron Rokitka, pleaded guilty to the charges of drinking and driving and hit-and-run that killed one person and injured another in connection with the 2022 incident. Rokitka is being released after a judge amended his 10-year prison sentence on the basis of good behavior.
The fatal crash occurred in Oxford, Mississippi, killing a 21-year-old student identified as Walker Fielder, according to a report by Oxford Eagle.

Rokitka, who was sentenced in 2025, recently asked for his punishment to be reviewed. Rokitka had been in custody since his arrest in late 2022. The judge noted in his amended order that Rokitka was “worthy of reconsideration” given his rehabilitation, treatment, and conduct while incarcerated.
Under the revised sentence, Rokitka must maintain a clean record, serve a 5-year probation, and complete 50 years of community service. He was also allowed to return to Collierville, Tennessee, where he resided before the crash.
The reduced sentence comes after Rokitka admitted to slamming into the two Ole Miss students, killing Fielder and injuring a 20-year-old student, Blanche Williamson, in the early morning hours of October 16, 2022, in downtown Oxford. Williamson was airlifted to Regional One Hospital in Memphis and survived the crash.
Fielder was pronounced dead at the scene. Rokitka, who was driving the car, immediately fled but turned himself in on October 17.
Rokitka pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident causing death and aggravated DUI as part of a plea deal. Rokitka’s passenger, Tristan Holland, who was 18 at the time of the crash, was also charged with acting as an accessory.
One of Fielder's friends, Alex Summerford, said, “He was the type of guy who just made you feel like you were the man. Like he always just loved you and told you how much he loved you. Like he never stayed away from telling you how much he cared about you.”
“He was like a brother to me; I always looked up to him. I loved him dearly. He always had a smile on his face. He was one of the nicest guys I know, one of the best guys I know. Always will be,” Summerford said.
