Michigan-based woman Lynette Hooker allegedly disappeared during a boat trip in the Bahamas with her husband. The couple were traveling in a small dinghy on April 4 as they headed from Hope Town to Elbow Cay.
According to reports, Hooker is believed to have fallen overboard while their vessel got stuck in bad weather. The couple were returning to their yacht, and it was then that the woman apparently fell off and vanished.
Lynette Hooker’s Daughter Hints At Prior Issues
With the investigation in full swing, Lynette’s daughter Karli Aylesworth has finally spoken up. Speaking to PEOPLE, she admitted having very little information about what might have actually happened. She also urged the need for a fully transparent investigation nonetheless.
In her words, “My sole concern is to find out what happened to my mother and make sure a complete investigation is performed into her disappearance. While the Royal Bahamian police are investigating this matter, I would also appreciate any involvement of the federal, state or local authorities to look into the circumstances of this tragic situation.”

That’s not all. Karli also drew attention towards certain prior issues that she feels might have something to do with her mother’s disappearance. While she did not elucidate it further, Aylesworth pressed the need for investigating things that led up to the day of her mother’s disappearance.
She said, “If this truly was an accident, I can understand and live with it. However, there needs to be an intensive review of the facts and circumstances of this tragic incident before that can be determined.”

Investigators Rule Out Foul Play In Disappearance Case
Contrary to Karli’s suspicion, authorities have, for now, ruled out any foul play in the case. Richard Cook, team leader of the Hope Town Volunteer Fire and Rescue, deemed the incident the result of a series of poor decisions by the couple.
He said, “It was just a lot of bad decisions. Nighttime, very windy, no moon out yet, making conditions pitch dark and very rough for the small boat.”
Police officers have suggested a possible fate for Lynette Hooker. They revealed that she had the boat’s keys in her possession. After she toppled out of the dinghy, Hooker was possibly carried away by the high currents of the water. Tragically, her husband eventually lost sight of her due to the rough and turbulent weather that night.
Investigators are still on the lookout for recovering Hooker after the boat accident
Once Hooker’s husband was finally able to reach the shore, it was then that the authorities were alerted to the mishap. On April 5, a search team was dispatched to locate the woman. Her husband could not confirm whether Lynette was wearing a life jacket when she fell out of the boat.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force, along with the team of Hope Town Volunteer Fire and Rescue, was handling the case. Unfortunately, no concrete leads have helped authorities locate Lynette Hooker. Meanwhile, the police have urged the public to keep an eye out and report any information that can assist in the ongoing investigation.
