Mother of Former Godley Police Chief Arrested Amid Prostitution Conspiracy Probe

The mother of former Godley police chief, accused in prostitution conspiracy, has also been arrested.
The mother of the former Godley police chief, Regina Cantrell, was arrested on May 4 and charged with misuse of official information. Several new charges have also been filed against former Godley police chief, identified as Mathew Cantrell, in connection with an investigation into a prostitution conspiracy. His mother has been charged for allegedly helping him monitor whether arrest warrants were being issued against him and his family while the investigation was underway.
Mathew Cantrell allegedly used his authority as the Godley police chief to harass women.
Investigators alleged Regina Cantrell informed Mathew about the status of arrest warrants being issued for him and his wife.
An arrest warrant for Regina states that she allegedly checked the status of an active warrant in both March and April. This occured before officials raided Mathew Cantrell’s house in relation to the prostitution conspiracy investigation.
Regina Cantrell was employed as a corrections officer at the Johnson County Jail.

During the investigation, authorities received several independent claims alleging that Mathew Cantrell used his authority as the Godley police chief to harass and s------- assault a female victim.
The victim allegedly told investigators that she had been harassed by Cantrell since 2012, after he initially assisted her in an investigation at her home.
According to an arrest affidavit, Cantrell sent the victim unwanted text messages, drove past her residence, and flashed the lights of his police vehicle. He also touched her inappropriately and made s------- explicit comments toward her.
The affidavit also alleges that Cantrell had other officers of the Godley Police Department pull the victim over when she had done nothing wrong. Cantrell told officers that she was an informant for him.
The victim stated that she felt she had no alternative other than engaging in s----- intercourse with Cantrell to stop his unwanted advances. The incident occurred in July 2016.
Cantrell is currently facing two counts of s----- assault related to the 2016 incident.
The arrests of Mathew Cantrell and his mother, Regina Cantrell, bring the total number of people arrested in the prostitution conspiracy investigation to six. Mathew Cantrell was arrested on April 8 along with two other individuals in connection with the case. The investigation is being conducted by the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
