As the search for Nancy Guthrie has entered its tenth week, her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, has resumed her professional duties by returning to host the Today show. The broadcast journalist rejoined the NBC morning show on April 6 after over two months of absence.
She last appeared on the show on January 30, just a day before Nancy was last seen at her home in Catalina Foothills. As the investigation into her mother’s disappearance began, Savannah shifted base to Arizona to be with her family during the difficult phase.

As the Monday broadcast of Today began, Savannah greeted the viewers and said, “Good morning, welcome to Today on this Monday morning. We are so glad you started your week with us.”
She did not explicitly address her mother’s disappearance, or her long absence from the show and simply announced, “And it is good to be home.” Her co-anchor, Craig Melvin, replied, “Yes, it is good to have you at home.”
Savannah then decided to jump straight to the day’s news and said, “Well, here we go, ready or not. Let’s do the news.” This prompted Melvin to briefly hold her hand in support as he added, “Yes, so good to have you back.”
The 54-year-old had previously visited the Today show set on March 5 to meet her co-anchors. At the time, she was teary-eyed as she thanked her colleagues for their support while she dealt with grief. Savannah announced her return to the show during a recent interview with Hoda Kotb, who also filled in for her while she was away.
At the time, she announced that she would be returning to the show on April 6. Savannah highlighted that she had some apprehensions about being on camera again while she continues to grapple with a personal loss.

“It’s hard to imagine doing it because it’s such a place of joy and lightness and I can’t come back and try to be something that I’m not,” she told Kotb. However, she added that she wanted to return as her colleagues are like her family.
“But I can’t not come back because it’s my family,” Savannah stated, adding, “I have been so grateful to have this family. I consider this my family, my greater family, and when times are hard, you want to be with your family. And I want to be with my family.”
Meanwhile, the investigation into Nancy’s disappearance goes on. The 84-year-old woman was last seen on January 31 when she went for dinner to her daughter Annie Guthrie’s home. Her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, dropped her back home around 10 PM. Nancy was allegedly abducted from her home around four hours later.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has already released footage of a suspect who was seen wearing a mask and tampering with the doorbell camera on Nancy’s porch. However, he has not been identified till now, and the case remains unsolved.
