All three were heard laughing and conversing, according to La Jornada.
Becerra was tied to a chair and blindfolded by the other two accused once they reached the location where they planned to kill her, according to La Jornada. The two accused then strangled Becerra with a rope. The incident is visible in a video clip obtained by Univision. Becerra’s body was discovered in October 2025, showing signs of decomposition.
Months later, Becerra’s mother, Carmen Becerra, received a video of the murder. She said her daughter was being harassed months before the killing, according to multiple reports.
In the early stages of the investigation, police were looking into an adult male as a suspect in the murder. Authorities have not disclosed his name because he was never formally named as a suspect.
The two accused were sentenced in March 2026. The 15-year-old had received a sentence of 2 years and 10 months of confinement, while the 13-year-old was sentenced to 11 months of supervised release. Public outrage followed over the light sentences given to the minors.
“While my daughter’s murder got to return to normal life, I never even got a chance to say goodbye to my daughter,” Carmen Becerra said, according to Univision.
