UCSB Students Express Fear And Paranoia Amid Warning

Given the unexpected incident, a student from the institution recently expressed her shock. Adora Mina spoke with a news outlet and relayed how she only feels safe within her dormitory after the report of the incident of ra**.

She also expressed her own suspicions about the Isla Vista area, which Mina described as quite a shady place. This place is otherwise known to be quite a popular party hub among students at UCSB.

In her words, “R*** and strangulation' on university campus, so I check the email and they release no other information on who he was. I feel safe in like my dorm, cause I’ve never had any issues there, because I’m always out with my friends in IV, that feels a little sketchy.”

Campus officials at UCSB revealed resources have been made available to students who have been affected by the news of the crime. Campus Advocacy Resources and Education has also started running a 24-hour confidential helpline for any on-campus student seeking assistance.

Jamie File, a senior advocate working for CARE, further assured: “When these timely warnings go out about this type of violence, the alerts, though they can be important, they can be very impactful for someone who can be a survivor, so we do try to get the word out after to say if you’re feeling impacted by this situation, we are here.”
