Husband Taken Into Custody in Missing Michigan Woman Case as Daughter Says “Something Happened”

Lynette Hooker's husband has been arrested after she went missing.
Lynette Hooker’s husband was missing after the Michigan mom was reported missing from a boat in the Bahamas. The man has now been found and taken into custody in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, on Wednesday evening.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force did not provide an identity for the man in custody. However, the man is 59, which is also Brian Hooker’s age. He is now being questioned by police and has not been charged.

It was Lynette’s daughter who first raised the alarm about whether her stepfather had something to do with her mom’s disappearance. When Hooker disappeared, her daughter, Karli Aylesworth, believes “something might have happened” to her mom, and Brian is involved in it.
Speaking with Fox News, she said, “I do believe something might have happened to her.” She revealed, “There’s a history of him choking her out and threatening to throw her overboard. So the fact that this is actually happening makes me believe there’s more to the story.”
The daughter also alleged that Brian did not inform her about her mom’s disappearance until around 24 hours after it happened. However, the man denied the allegations. He told Daily Beast, “I categorically deny the allegations made by Karli Aylesworth.”
“At this time, I have retained local counsel, Terrel Butler, and I am acting on her strict advice not to provide further comment to the press, as there is currently an ongoing investigation,” he added.

Police said that the couple went on an excursion from Home Town to Elbow Cay. An initial investigation revealed that she was swept away by the currents after falling into the sea. The pair was on a dinghy, and Brian told police that Lynette tumbled overboard with the boat’s keys.
The vessel’s engine was shut off, and the man lost sight of his wife, as he paddled the dinghy back to shore. He fought against the current, and after a rough surf, he arrived at Marsh Harbor Boar Yard around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Brian informed one person about what happened, and they reported it to the police. Before he was taken into custody, Brian shared the heartbreaking news about his wife on Facebook.
“I am heartbroken over the recent boat accident in unpredictable seas and high winds that caused my beloved Lynette to fall from our small dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas,” he wrote.
“Despite desperate attempts to reach her, the winds and currents drove us further apart. We continue to search for her, and that is my sole focus,” Brian added.
Authorities have conducted extensive marine, land, and aerial searches to look for Lynette.
